April 2007   Kennedy
Kennedy is a 3-year-old Boston Terrier who has earned the nickname “8 Ball” for her classic black and white markings. She was adopted off the street almost 2 years ago, and now happily resides with her Mom in Ashburn, Virginia. A most social butterfly, Kennedy is a regular at local doggy happy hours, and has a wardrobe to rival any Hollywood starlet’s!

Not much is known about Kennedy’s first year, or how she came to be wandering around alone. As Kennedy’s Mom tells the story, it all started when a co-worker came in talking about a cute pup she found running loose in her neighborhood. Unfortunately, Kennedy’s feisty nature did not sit well with the co-worker’s dogs, so a temporary home was in order. Kennedy’s Mom naively volunteered to take the puppy “for the weekend”—a stay which quickly became permanent when the owner was never located. But Kennedy’s Mom couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. And Kennedy didn’t make out so badly either: her Mom is the marketing director for Dogtopia, the premiere doggy daycare facility based in North Bethesda.

Kennedy is passionate in her allegiance to her favorite charity, K-9 Support, which creates awareness and economic support for military dogs stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe it’s because she remembers when she was far from home wishing someone cared. In any event, if you are moved to learn more about K-9 Support, and end up making a contribution to this good cause, Kennedy would be very honored if you made your donation in her name.

Since that moment a few years back when she was adopted, Kennedy’s has amassed a multitude of pleasant memories. Her favorites are of Christmas, Halloween, Christmas, the Cherry Blossom Festival, and, did I mention... Christmas? Look for another portrait of Kennedy in Gallery 2.
