March 2007   Bruno
Bruno is a 4-year-old male chocolate Lab who lives in Cabin John, Maryland. He is of the English variety, which are more stocky, have broader heads and tend to exhibit a more relaxed temperament than their American counterparts. That certainly doesn’t mean they don’t love to play, run, and of course—retrieve! A Lab breeder in Virginia told Bruno’s owners that she doesn’t bother breeding chocolate Labs because “they’re too silly.” But that’s just what Bruno’s family loves about him: his wonderful playfulness and spirit.

Labs love stuffed toys and Bruno is no exception. He carries his favorite around the house, shakes it vigorously to demonstrate his fine “hunt and kill” talents, and grabs it for comfort when he hears thunder. Bruno came from Belquest Kennels in Mt. Airy, Maryland, the breeder for a Lab lover. He was quite the cute pup: a little brown linebacker sporting his fab purple harness—a big bundle of dark brown fur. His car ride home from the breeder was very interesting. Another common Lab trait—a craving for “people food”—became evident to his new family right away. He cried and whined until they gave him a french fry! You can see another portrait of Bruno in Gallery 1.
